It was a cold rainy morning. Enzan Wine is located about 10 minutes by car from the Enzan Station, Yamanashi Prefecture. The third-generation owner and winemaker, Mr.Hagiwara, warmly welcomed us in spite of the busy season. The winery, itself is around 50 years old, is filled with the sweet fragrance of fermenting grapes
Enzan Wine used to produce 10 times more wine than Mr.Hagiwara does now, but he enthusiastically told us that he reduced production volume to ensure a more stable and higher quality wine. He is particularly interested in making wines from indigenous Japanese grapes. And yes, he is making a good quality wine.
