One fine day in Autumn, I had a chance to serve Masút at a local Octoberfest held by several restaurants and bars in my hometown. This festival marked the town's 5th annual event. My friend’s restaurant, Le Temps, decided to participate for the first time this year and wanted me to help in their booth. They said I could use the opportunity to sell Masút, so I brought 4 bottles not expecting that I could sell them all.
午後の早い時間に用意していたオードブルとサンドイッチがなくなり、慌てて作り足ししながら、ワインもいい感じで売れて行きます。 やっぱ好きだなぁ、サービス業。絶対天職だと思う(笑笑)
The weather was just perfect for having fun in the open air. We got more custermers than we anticipated, and had a good start of the day. Regulars of Le Temps came and enjoyed the event, and created a good ambiance by getting foods from neighboring booths, exchanging words with other guests... so I had fun taking care of them. Foods served at our booth needed to be refilled several times and the wines (sparkling, white, red and Masút) were consumed at a good pace. I always enjoy serving. A waitress, could have been my calling, lol.
When I came back from my late yummy lunch, one of our menu sandwiches had sold out. We still had a few more hours to go and there would be a live event in the evening, so, we had our chef come up with a creamy curry soup for the evening menu. I had to run back home for picking up few more Masút for the evening. As it got cooler towards the evening, the nice smell of curry attracted another crowd of people. We sold everything we had. I served 22 glasses and a bottle of Masút that day! It was a long and exhausting day but I enjoyed it and it was totally worth it!
The next evening, I went to dinner at Le Temps. They had finished calculating my share and showed me how much our booth had sold the day before. Wow! No wonder we’d been the busiest booth there. It was a good event for Le Temps and for me, a win-win for both parties. I could promote and sell Masút and they got a good waitress helping in the booth. We were talking and agreed that we should definitely do this again.
Then a group of guests came in. As soon as they got to their table, a guy said “ that Masút wine last night was really good.” Oh they were there yesterday? And enjoyed Masút enough to remember the name? I couldn’t stop grinning. They ordered white wine to start with and then ordered Masút for their red! Now my eyes filled with tears. What a weekend! It felt totally rewarding and made my heart warm. Okay Gambaro!!
